Lovely hotel, affordable and great for families. Location was fantastic with a stunning view of the Dents de Midi from the terrace. Situated adjacent to the cable car it was perfect for walking and exploring. The hospitality and welcome from the hotel owners was perfect and the welcome drinks were much appreciated.

Extremely friendly and kind owners. Amazing view from our room towards the Alps. Room was clean, bright, and comfortable. Enjoyed a complimentary drink on the large sunny hotel balcony, which again has fantastic views over to the Alps. Very happy stay and now look forward to a return visit in the winter.

My wife and I stayed at Au Bel Air hotel after doing the tourist stuff in Paris. The change was extremely refreshing. Lots of space and nature sights to see in Leysin. No crowds at all and we were never pestered by anyone trying to sell us Tour Effiel trinkets. The hotel was very quiet and spacious with a very gracious and helpful host manager/owner. The view from our balcony was stupendous and we were happy to just sit and have some wine while viewing the mountains. Hiking trails were right there and a cable car was next door. Shops were a short hike away but the village has a free bus service - routes all over town- restaurants and sports facilities easily accessed too.

If anything, it would be the tv. Needs to be updated. Satellite connection was good but the English content was lacking - bbc had some decent programming but cnn is a total waste of a viewers time - must every cnn reporter make everything sound like a world catastrophe?

It is located directly next to the Gondola, and there was a very good offseason rate. It is a short walk from the top train station. The hotel is very cute, and two beautiful frontdesk girls. They let us leave our bags there 3 hours before check in because the room was vacent, very relaxed atmosphere.

The owner drove us to where the site of our conference - very kind of him. He is so passionate about his work. He gave good advices as to wher to eat.

Dominic was a great host, the Hotel was perfectly located for skiing. We are holidaying again in Leysin in June and will definitely be staying at the Au Bel Air.

We had a terrible experience in hotel Au Bel Air. The heating was not working and it was 8 degrees in the room. The staff was aware of the poor heating situation but the owner did not wanted to fix the problem. The owner (Dominique) told us that there was no problem. He was clearly not telling the truth. The hotel was well aware of the heating issue. There were 2 small fan heaters in the room when we arrived. The fan heaters did not solve any problem and are by the way known for causing fires. After a long fight with the owner I got part of my money back and we left after being 1 day in Leysin. It was a horrible experience and it ruined our one week of family ski vacation. Our two young daughters were extremely disappointed.

We liked the really friendly family staff at the hotel and the proximity to the ski lift next door.

As we were in the region a week before ski season, the hotel didn't seem to be fully open (staff travelling etc). It didn't cause us any issues, but it's just worth noting for some out-of-season stays.

Prime location, right by the Leysin skilifts.

-makeshift foldaway beds -mended and over-used bed linens and ancient Ikea (!) bath towels -paper thin walls and doors -overall stinginess in all of the hotel's fixtures...

Service was cordial, room clean and spacious (for a single person) with nice muralwork on the walls. Breakfast ample. Most convenient location for ski-lodging in Leysin -- literally 10 yards from the gondola!
